CatMap

CatMap is a project aimed at understanding the distribution and population of community (feral) cats in Hawaiʻi. By collecting cat sightings—similar to our efforts with the Nēnē—we aim to identify areas of significant overlap with protected species, estimate population size, and measure changes over time. This data will help us communicate the severity of the issue to stakeholders and policymakers, ensuring that sufficient resources are allocated for effective management.
